Your Google listing does not pack up when you do.

When your membership ends, the profile still points to 1655 S Blue Island Ave until someone changes it. Customers get directions to a door you no longer use. Google sees a listing at an address you no longer hold.

Here is how to handle it cleanly, and how Google decides who gets verified in the first place.

If you are moving: update the address

1. Sign in to your Google Business Profile.

2. Choose Edit profile, then Location.

3. Enter your new address, or hide the address and set a service area.

4. Expect Google to ask you to verify again. A new address is a new check.

If you are closing: mark it closed

1. In your profile, choose Edit profile, then Business information.

2. Select Close this business on Google (permanently closed).

3. Your reviews stay, and customers stop driving to an old address.

If an old listing is still showing

Sometimes the owner is gone and the listing is not. Anyone can flag it:

1. Find the listing on Google Maps.

2. Click Suggest an edit.

3. Choose Close or remove.

4. Select Place is closed or doesn't exist here, and submit.

Provide proof if prompted. Google may ask for confirmation. As the property manager, Lobi Space can show that a membership or lease has ended. That documentation helps if a request needs to be escalated through the Google Business Profile Help Community for manual removal.

How Google verifies a business

Google decides the method. You do not pick it.

1. You claim or create the profile with your business name, category and address.

2. Google reviews the details against its eligibility rules, including in-person contact with customers during posted hours.

3. Google offers a method: usually a live video, sometimes a postcard, phone, text or email.

4. For video, you film one continuous take: street signage, the entrance, your business signage, your workspace, and proof you have access, like keys or a signed agreement.

5. Google reviews the submission, which can take several days.

6. You are approved, asked for more, or declined. Edits made right after approval can trigger another review.

Nothing is guaranteed

We want to be plain about this. Google alone decides who verifies. A virtual office or mailbox address does not promise a verified listing.

If Google asks for dedicated office space or a lease, you will need to qualify for a full-time private office. That is a real lease for a real room, and it is the setup most likely to hold up.

Why suite numbers matter at a shared address

Coworking buildings trip Google's spam filters by design. Many businesses, one street address. Three habits keep every listing clean:

Suite numbers are mandatory. Every listing needs its own suite, unit or office number. A bare street address looks like a duplicate.

Every member uses their own number. If you set up a profile at Lobi Space, include the suite number on your agreement, exactly as written. Listings without one can be merged, suspended, or drag down neighbors.

We check regularly. Every few months we review Google Maps for our address and flag listings that no longer belong, before they cause trouble.

Frequently asked questions

Does my Google listing move when I leave?

No. The listing stays tied to the old address until you change it or close it. Update the address to your new location, or mark the business closed.

Can Lobi Space guarantee my Google verification?

No. Google alone decides who verifies. If Google requires dedicated office space or a lease, you will need to qualify for a full-time private office.

Why do suite numbers matter?

Many businesses share one building address. Without a unique suite number, Google can treat listings as duplicates and suspend or merge them.
